5 Daily Habits of Highly Successful People

We all know that habits can either help or hurt your success in life. Bad habits can fester and grow into a lifestyle that takes you away from the things you want to do—and good habits can help you create a life that’s full of action and accomplishment.

If you were to look at someone you respect, someone who’s successful, you would see that they spend each day doing the things that help them accomplish their biggest goals. This isn’t to say they’re perfect—because no one is—but despite the things that are not perfect in their lives, they continue to make moves that have a positive impact. And it starts with their daily habits.

Now, while we can all study successful habits, it’s meaningless if we don’t implement that knowledge. So here are five daily habits of highly successful people—habits you can adopt to create the life you truly want to live:

1. Successful people plan out their day the night before.

It’s easy to get off track when you don’t have a plan. Without planning what your day will look like, you wake up not knowing what you want to do or accomplish. Successful people spend a little time the night before giving themselves clear goals for the next day. Then they wake up and go down their list.

Life doesn’t always work out as planned, but with a plan, you can adjust without losing momentum.

2. Successful people read books to get inspired.

Reading is an essential element in success—books contain so much knowledge. Apparently Elon Musk would read at least four hours a day growing up. Four hours. And look how successful he became.

There isn’t necessarily a defined length as to how much time you should be reading, but forming a daily reading habit will expand your knowledge and help you on your journey to success.

3. Successful people make their health a priority.

What you eat and how much you exercise affects every area of your life. Successful people use their exercise as a time to reset and plan. And they make smart food choices that will give them the energy they need to accomplish everything on their daily to-do list.

So, what’s for dinner? Is the gym on your to-do list? Choose wisely.

4. Successful people don’t get distracted by what other people are doing.

Other people’s journeys to success can be inspiring; you can learn so much—about their mistakes, their victories, what to do, what not to do. But if you start comparing your progress to theirs, instead of using their stories as inspiration, you can feel jealous, stressed, unworthy.

Successful people realize their journey is unique and can’t be compared. So don’t get stuck in the comparison trap—stay focused on your why.

5. Successful people live each day as if it were the last.

Life is busy, it’s chaotic, and so you tend to want to focus on the future—we all do it, worry about what’s next. But while planning is important, so is living—being fully present.

Life is short, and there’s no guarantee as to when it will end. Successful people live each day as if it were their last and make the most out of each moment—and so should you.

When you look at a big goal, it’s common to get frustrated at the enormity of what you’re trying to accomplish. If you wake up each day determined to spend it forming good habits, you give yourself a better chance at success. So use these five habits as a starting place to build whatever a successful life means to you.

The Most Powerful “Word”…What Is It?

What is the MOST Powerful Word?

By Dan Robey

Think about the word “choose.”

It may be the single most important word
in your life.

Why?

Let’s look at what the dictionary says about the word “choose”

1. to select from a number of possibilities; pick by preference:
Example: She chose Sunday for her departure.
2. to prefer or decide (to do something): Example: He chose to run
for election.
3. to want; desire.
4. to make a choice: Example: He chose carefully.
5. to be inclined: Example: You may stay here, if you choose.

Let’s look at #3 first, “to want, to desire,” we all have wants and
desires, you can “choose” to love or not be loved. You can choose
to seek after that which you desire, or simply hope it will
magically come to you someday.

Look at #1 “to select from a number of possibilities” WOW, this is
powerful. A number of possibilities, I would say this is almost
unlimited.

Here are some examples:

1. You could choose to live a sedentary life or an active life.

2. You could choose to imagine your life as successful or believe
that success will never come your way.

3. You could choose to believe in something when all those around
you say you should not believe in it.

4. You could choose to take “action” or not take action.

5. You could choose to gain knowledge by reading newsletters like
this one as well as books and magazines that will empower you with
life changing information, or you could choose to watch more TV.

6. You could choose to do what you have always done and get the same
results you have always gotten or you could choose to change the things
you have always done and experience completely different results.

7. Look at #2 from the dictionary listing above. To prefer or
decide (to do something): Example: He chose to run for election.
Every President first chose to seek
and/or accept the job.

You see, it is “YOU”  that chooses, YOU have the power to choose
the direction of your life and ONLY you have that power.

* You can choose to seek success.

* You can choose to have a healthy body by choosing what you put in
it and what you do with it.

* You can choose to use the power of attraction (as discussed in
The Secret) by creating a movie in your mind of you succeeding and
believing that the success you are visualizing is already yours!

* You can choose to take that new job in another city.

* You can choose to forgive.

But here is the bottom line.

It is “YOU” who must choose, no one else can choose for you.

Here is an important question……Will you choose?

Make no mistake about it, even if you choose “NOT” to choose,
you have still made a “choice”……that is POWERFUL!

So I challenge you today to look at your life and CHOOSE!

* Choose success

* Choose unconditional love

* Choose health over sickness

* Choose to take the time to teach your children what you have
learned about choosing.

* Choose to take action for change.

You know there are areas of your life “RIGHT NOW” where you have
failed to make a choice….to choose

10 Steps to Successful Goal Setting

As a life and executive coach I work with a lot of people on their goals. Setting goals puts you in the driver’s seat, giving you the power to transform your life or take a company into the future. As enticing as that sounds, it is more common than not those goals are abandoned. To be successful, check your goals against my ten steps to help ensure you accomplish them.

1. Belief. The first step to goal setting is to have absolute belief and faith in the process. If you don’t believe you can absolutely transform your life and get what you want, then you might as well forget about goal setting and do something else. If you are in doubt, look around you. Everything you see began as a thought. Make your thoughts turn into reality.

2. Visualize what you want. Think of what you deeply desire in your life or where you want your company to be a year from now. What changes have to take place? What do you need to know or learn? What spiritual, emotional, personal, financial, social or physical properties need to be addressed? The clearer you are with each of these dimensions will bring your vision into sharp focus. The clearer you are, the easier it will be to focus on making it happen.

3. Get it down! Writing down your goals is key to success. By writing down your goals, you become a creator. Failure to write down your goals often means you will forget them or won’t focus on them. Have them written down where you can see them every day.

4. Purpose. Knowing why you want to achieve your goals is powerful. Identifying the purpose of your goal helps you instantly recognize why you want that particular goal and whether it’s worth working toward. Knowing why you want something furnishes powerful motivation to see it through to the finish. After all, if the purpose of earning a million dollars is to put it in the bank for a rainy day, you probably won’t be as motivated as you will if you need it to pay for your child’s cancer treatment.

5. Commit. This might sound obvious to you but it’s a step that has disastrous consequences when it’s taken lightly. Write a few pages about why and how you are committing to each goal; why it’s important to you, what it means to you, why the outcome is necessary and what are you going to do to make it happen. Without strong commitment you aren’t likely to follow through.

6. Stay focused. By focusing on your goals, you manifest. You may not know how you’ll reach your goals but when you make a daily practice of focus, they become easier to reach. Having your goals written down somewhere where you will see them each day is a good idea. Your mind will notice that there is a discrepancy between where you are now and where you want to be which will create pressure to change. If you lose focus you can always bring it back. Without a regular practice of focusing on your goals you may be distracted by something.

7. Plan of action. Being really clear about what you want, knowing your purpose, writing your goals down, committing to them, and staying focused gives you the power of clarity to write down a list of action steps. You may not know all the steps ahead of time but you will know the next steps that take you in that direction. Having goals without a plan of action is like trying to complete a complex project without a project plan. There is too much going on, it’s too disorganized, you miss deadlines and you don’t have priorities. Eventually you get frustrated and the project/goal fails or collapses under its own weight.

8. No Time Like the Present. To show how committed you are to your goals, think of something you can do right now that will get you moving toward fulfilling your goals. Even if it’s just making a phone call, do it now. You will be surprised how this simple step reinforces all the previous steps and gets you motivated and moving toward what you desire. If you are not motivated to do something right now, how are you going to get motivated tomorrow?

9. Accountability. To push through when things get tough, you have to hold yourself accountable unless you bring in outside help like a coach who provides it for you. It makes sense to have someone beside yourself who can provide valuable feedback at critical junctures, like a friend or a mentor. Telling your friends and family about your goals may give you the accountability your need.

10. Review. Make it part of your day to review your goals and take action. This keeps your goals alive and top of mind. It’s a good time to convert the over all plan into discrete action steps that you can take through out the week. It will also help you be aware if one goal feels stuck and you are over compensating on another goal.

By following these steps and practicing your goals each day, you have all the elements you need to succeed and achieve your goals. It isn’t always easy to push through. Some days will be easier than others but if you keep focused on your goals you will be amazed at the progress you will make. Remember, almost everything begins as a thought. You can be what you imagine if you follow these simple steps.

8 Lessons Learned Studying World-Class Achievers

As someone who has aspirations but, admittedly, is not world-class at anything, I’m always curious about the origins of those who are the very best at what they do. I’ve learned eight lessons from studying the elite in professions from athletics to business and, occasionally, art to find out what makes them tick and how they reached such rarified air.

1. Live a life of discipline.
Despite his busy schedule shooting and promoting his movies, movie star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson religiously follows a strict diet and fitness regimen, eating seven carefully orchestrated meals designed for maximum health benefits. He wakes up daily at 4 a.m. to eat his first meal and start the day. His approach to fitness is extreme, but it’s a big part of how he’s achieved extreme levels of success. Simply put, he is more disciplined than those who would try to dethrone him at the box office.

2. Be on a mission.
The highest levels of excellence are a result of years of training and preparation. Great inspiration is required to maintain the unflinching discipline to chase, day in and day out, a goal that is unobtainable to the average person. This is a quest that propels you to march forward on your darkest days. Not everyone has a mission that stirs his or her soul. If you are fortunate enough to discover yours, you have the first tool needed to become world-class.

3. Bias towards action.
Thomas Edison once said, “Everything comes to those who hustle while they wait.” There is no more succinct description of what drives the most ambitious and world-class among us. If you pause to consider the countless hours it takes to master anything, you’ll find that getting started now is a necessity. Time is the greatest and rarest of commodities. Those who aspire to achieve world-class status are intimately aware of how precious each day is and know better than to waste a second.

4. Be different.
Steve Jobs personified Apple’s legendary ‘90s campaign Think Different. He paid the dues to become world-class but always believed he could be. People like Jobs, with an end goal that’s so bold, make many equally daring choices along their journey.
Fitting in isn’t the key to success. Perhaps the opposite is what’s required to reach the pinnacle: world-class status.

5. Have a frightening goal.
Do not aim small. For the world-class, goals that frighten others or even themselves are just the inspiration they need to wake-up early to pursue greatness. The juice for the elite is the fact that their target is daring; a frightening goal is a compelling goal.

6. Turn setbacks into comebacks.
Anyone can get inspired and take the first steps towards achieving at the highest levels. The starting line has no shortage of participants, but the road to the finish line always claims plenty of casualties. The world-class have a resiliency that is simply on a different level than most. They have the ability to treat setbacks as part of the process — merely roadblocks that are never impassible.

7. Never arrive.
Further along your journey to world-class status, you will know what massive success feels like. Anyone would be tempted to stop and admire the view. For those who do, success can be the enemy, driving an ego out of control or inducing complacency. The world-class avoid these pitfalls. They never allow themselves to fall for the “I’ve arrived” trap. They keep their eyes fixed on the prize.

8. Care less about what others think.
To shoot for world-class with the fortitude to work towards it every day is not normal. Generally speaking, people who do abnormal things make themselves susceptible to criticism. The world-class have the unique ability to shut out the critics, even when no one in the room believes in them. For the soon-to-be elite, doubters only intensify their drive. They can shut out the naysayers and instead focus that mental energy solely on their mission.

9 THINGS MENTALLY STRONG PEOPLE DO EVERYDAY.

Mental strength is just like any other skill: It takes time to develop.

In her book "13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do," psychotherapist Amy Morin writes that your genetics, personality, and life experiences all play a role in your mental strength.

Since we know what mentally strong people don't do, we asked Morin about the key habits they do follow.

Here are nine things mentally strong people do every day.

1. They monitor their emotions.

People often assume mentally strong people suppress their emotions, Morin says, but they are actually "acutely aware" of them.

"They monitor their emotions throughout the day and recognize how their feelings influence their thoughts and behaviors," she says. "They know sometimes reaching their greatest potential requires them to behave contrary to how they feel."

2. They practice realistic optimism.

Having a positive outlook all the time is impossible, and too much negativity is counterproductive.

Mentally strong people "understand that their thoughts aren't always true, and they strive to reframe their negativity," Morin says. "They replace exaggeratedly negative thoughts with a more realistic inner monologue."

3. They solve problems.

To put it simply, "mentally strong people refuse to engage in unproductive activities," Morin says. Instead of sitting there complaining about your bad day at work and wishing bad things wouldn't happen, evaluate why something went wrong and fix it. Learn how to calculate risk and move forward from there, she says.

4. They practice self-compassion.

Rather than beating themselves up for mistakes, mentally strong people practice self-compassion and speak to themselves as they would speak to a good friend, Morin says.

"They respond to their inner critic as if they were standing up to the schoolyard bully," she says. "They forgive themselves for mistakes and cheer themselves on as they work toward their goals."

5. They set healthy boundaries.

One thing mentally strong people avoid is giving away their power. People give away their power when they lack physical and emotional boundaries, Morin says. They can establish healthy boundaries, however, by behaving assertively, she says.

"They accept full responsibility for how they think, feel, and behave," she says, "and they refuse to let other people dictate whether they're going to have a good day or a bad day."
6. They manage their time wisely.

Mentally strong people describe time as a finite resource, Morin says. That's why they try to use it in a meaningful way. "Rather than waste energy dwelling on the past or resenting other people for taking up their time, they focus on more productive activities," she says.

7. They strive to fulfill their purpose.

Successfully fulfilling your purpose in life takes time. Mentally strong people understand this and focus on the big picture, keeping in mind that today's choices impact their future.

8. They seek to grow stronger.

"Mentally strong people view everyday challenges as opportunities to grow stronger," Morin says. Additionally, they never settle or consider themselves strong enough. There is always room for improvement.

"They know that just like physically strong people need to work out to stay in good shape, they need to keep working out their mental muscles to prevent atrophy," she says.

9. They monitor their progress.

Doing whatever it takes to improve can help you reach your greatest potential. It starts with acknowledging your weaknesses and having a "no excuses" approach.

"Rather than make excuses for their mistakes or failures, they seek explanations that will help them perform better moving forward," Morin says.

4 Things You Can Learn from A Child

Refresh your perspective on life and practice being child-like. Jim Rhon

Remember the master teacher once said 2,000 years ago, “Unless you can become like little children, your chances are zero; you haven’t got a prayer.” This is a major consideration for adults.

Be like children, and remember there are four ways to be more like a child no matter how old you get.

1. Curiosity

Be curious; embrace childish curiosity. What will kids do if they want to know something bad enough? You’re right. They will bug you. Kids can ask a million question. You think they’re through, then they’ve got another million. They will keep plaguing you. They can drive you right to the brink.

Kids use their curiosity to learn. Have you ever noticed that while adults are stepping on ants, children are studying them? A child’s curiosity is what helps them to reach, learn and grow.

2. Excitement

Learn to get excited  like a child. There is nothing that has more magic than childish excitement. So excited that you hate to go to bed at night… that you can’t wait to get up in the morning… that you’re about to explode. How can anyone resist that kind of childish magic?

Now, once in a while I meet someone who says, “Well, I’m a little too mature for all that childish excitement.” Isn’t that pitiful? You’ve got to weep for these kinds of people. All I’ve got to say is, “If you’re too old to get excited, you’re old.” Don’t get that old.

3. Faith

Faith is childish. How else would you describe it? Some people say, “Let’s be adult about it.” Oh, no. No. Adults too often have a tendency to be overly skeptical. Some adults even have a tendency to be cynical.

Adults say, “Yeah. I’ve heard that old positive line before. It will be a long day in June before I fall for that positive line. You’ve got to prove to me it’s any good.” See, that’s adult, but kids aren’t that way.

Kids think you can get anything. They are really funny. You tell them, “We’re going to have three swimming pools.” And they say, “Yeah. Three. One each. Stay out of my swimming pool.” See, they start dividing them up right away, but adults are not like that. Adults say, “Three swimming pools? You’re out of your mind. Most people don’t even have one swimming pool. You’ll be lucky to get a tub in the backyard.”

You notice the difference? No wonder the master teacher said, “Unless you can become like little children, your chances, they’re skinny.”

4. Trust

Trust is a childish virtue, but it has great merit. Have you heard the expression “Sleep like a baby”? That’s it. Childish trust. After you’ve gotten an A+ for the day, leave it in somebody else’s hands.

Curiosity, excitement, faith and trust. That is a powerful combination to bring (back) into our lives.

40 Quotes to Help You Follow Your Passion

40 Quotes to Help You Follow Your Passion
No matter what happens, no matter how far you seem to be away from where you want to be, never stop believing that you will somehow make it.  Have an unrelenting belief that things will work out, that the long road has a purpose, that the things that you desire may not happen today, but they will happen.  Persist and persevere, your desired path remains possible.
Here are 40 quotes to help you follow your passion and find meaningful work.
  1. The heart of human excellence often begins to beat when you discover a pursuit that absorbs you, frees you, challenges you, and gives you a sense of meaning, joy and passion.
  2. I have found that one thing that helps me to live peacefully and mindfully on this glorious planet is successful engagement in meaningful work, keeping my mind where my hands are.
  3. Your work is to discover your work and then, with all your heart, to give yourself to it.
  4. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.  This concept can be universally applied.
  5. Everything worthwhile in life is work.  But if it puts a smile on your face, it doesn’t feel like work.
  6. Hard work becomes easy when your work becomes your play.  Never underestimate the value of loving what you do.
  7. Continue to work hard at what you love no matter what the odds are.  Eventually, someone will praise and appreciate what you do.
  8. It’s not how much money you make that ultimately makes you happy.  It’s whether or not your work fulfills you.
  9. The best feeling in the world is getting paid to do what you love.
  10. Don’t be normal.  Sadly, normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you financed, in order to get to the job that you don’t really like, but that you need, to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.
  11. Often people attempt to live their lives backwards.  They try to acquire more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier.  The way it actually works is the reverse.  You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.
  12. The secret to success regardless of your passion is no secret.  Just work hard and add real value to people’s lives.
  13. When we focus on leading a passionate, meaningful life, we are also inadvertently creating a spectacular ripple effect of inspiration in the lives around us.  When one person follows a dream, tries something new, or takes a daring leap, everyone nearby feels their passionate energy; and before too long, they are making their own daring leaps while simultaneously inspiring others.
  14. Be the kind of person others admire, can count on, trust, and enjoy spending time with. After you have developed that reputation, people will start to ask you what you do, and you will be amazed at how many people will want to work with you on the things that matter to you.
  15. Never make up excuses, because excuses are lies confirming that you are not being true to your heart.  And don’t look for shortcuts in life either, because if you do you are only fooling yourself.  Simplify your life, work toward your goals, show respect and be true to yourself and others.  There is only one ‘you;’ reinvent the very best of ‘you’ every chance you get.
  16. There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living
  17. Purpose is the reason you journey.  Passion is the fire that lights your way.
  18. Only passions, great passions, can elevate the soul to great things.
  19. If you cannot put your heart in it, take yourself out of it.
  20. Neglecting passion blocks creative flow.  When you’re passionate, you’re energized.  Likewise, when you lack passion, your energy is low and unproductive.  Energy is everything when it comes to being successful.
  21. When passion and skill work together, the end result is often a masterpiece.
  22. There are people who live in a dream world, and there are people who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.
  23. Define what success looks like for you then go after it.
  24. There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart.
  25. If you are passionate about it, pursue it, no matter what anyone else thinks.  That’s how dreams are achieved.
  26. Work for a cause, not for applause.  Live your life to express, not to impress.
  27. Live by choice, not by chance.  Make changes, not excuses.  Be motivated, not manipulated.  Work to excel, not compete.  Choose to listen to your inner voice, not the jumbled opinions of everyone else.
  28. Live your life so that when it’s time to ask where the time went, you can answer: “It went to joyful moments with family and friends, to my search for passion, to doing work that felt like play, to standing up for what I believe in, and to exploring this beautiful world we live in with an open heart.
  29. Success does not depend so much on your abilities as your choices.  Any lack in skill can be more than made up for by how hard you work toward a goal you care about.
  30. Find what makes you come alive, whatever it is.  Become it and let it become you, and great things happen FOR you, TO you and BECAUSE of you.
  31. When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin.  It works not because it settles the question for you, but because in that brief moment when the coin is in the air, you suddenly know what you are hoping for.
  32. If you catch yourself working hard and loving every minute of it, don’t stop.  You’re on to something big.  Because hard work isn’t hard when you concentrate on your passions.
  33. The best part of life is not just surviving, but thriving with passion, style, compassion, generosity, humor and kindness.
  34. It’s not about getting a chance, it’s about taking a chance.  You’ll rarely be 100% sure it will work, but you can always be 100% sure doing nothing won’t work.  Sometimes you just have to go for it.
  35. If what you’re doing right now is not your passion, you have little to lose.
  36. No matter how many times you break down, there should always be a little voice inside you that says, “NO, you’re not done yet!  Get back up!” That’s the voice of passion and courage.
  37. Stop beating yourself up.  You are a work in progress; which means you get there a little at a time, not all at once.
  38. Sometimes you have to stop worrying, wondering, and doubting.  Have faith that things will work out, maybe not how you planned, but just how it’s meant to be.
  39. Nothing you have that much passion for is ever a waste of time, no matter how it turns out in the long-term.
  40. Life is short.  If there was ever a moment to follow your passion and do something that matters to you, that moment is now.

Strategies For Grabbing Abundance And Wealth In All Areas Of Life

Image result for strategies for success
It has been a long time belief that wealth steams from education, status, age, or inheritance. This is simply not true. People look at the wealthy and immediately think that they have had some kind of advantage, as opposed to them. The truth is that it doesn’t matter where you come from, how old you are, what your gender is, or what your race is. You can create abundance in any area of your life.

Lose Your Ego
It is probably true that you desire to be accepted by the elite. If you are middleclass or lower income level, then you do not want to spend your money like you are wealthy. This is just simply going to wipe out your savings, and you will end up in the negative.

Realize You Can Obtain Wealth
The most important thing to remember is that it is possible for you to be wealthy. Just think how much money you could have, if you saved five hundred dollars every month for thirty years. Now image if you threw ten percent of stock returns on top of that amount. You could have easily made a million dollars in 30 years. Now you would be a millionaire.

Setting Good Daily Habits
Good daily habits are the building blocks of wealth. Successful people have many good daily habits that help them in their success. If you understand that your bad habits may be holding you back, then you are on your way to achieving the success that you are looking for. For instance, if you watch too much TV, then you need to limit yourself to one hour a day. If you have trouble remembering names, then you need to write the name down and study them. If you follow guidelines like these for thirty days you will simply be amazed at how much you can accomplish.

Relationship Building
Networking can be the key to success. Most successful people are other-people focused. They take the time to form long lasting relationships with other people. These people that you develop relationships with might be able to provide you with investment opportunities or investment strategies that you are seeking. You also need to remember the names of every contact that you make, so you might want to make sure that you write the names down for later recall.

Save Money on Groceries
If you change your eating habits from junk foods to nuts, whole oats, fruits, and vegetables, you will save a surprising amount of money on your grocery tab. Not only are you going to save money, but you are also going to be eating healthier. Take the money that you save and invest it in something that you know is going to give you a return profit.

Avoid Debt
Any debt can harm your financial plan, especially high interest credit cards. If you can’t afford an item with cash, then simply don’t buy it. However, if you do need the item, then you are probably going to want to pay for it through some kind of payment plan. This will help eliminate the interest rates that you would be paying on credit cards.
