Develop success from failures.
Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.
- Dale Carnegie
Everyone wants to succeed in life. We all want to succeed in our personal relationships. We want to succeed in our professional lives. But, despite this desire to succeed many so often do not find success. So, just what is the secret to success in people's personal and professional lives? Yep! Being proactive.
Blame game
It becomes a very easy habit to fall into to place the blame for your lack of success on the many and myriad factors that influence your life. Perhaps you were born with certain perceived disadvantages or perhaps with no truly noticeable (to the naked eye) advantages. Maybe you feel that your early years were at fault. Perhaps today it is your family, your employer, your community, or the current economic climate that is causing you to not be where you want. While trying to displace the blame is certainly a very human reaction, it is still only a reaction. Assigning blame for failures, even if when you accept the blame yourself, will never do one thing to change it. However if you can move past the blame game and start to think proactively, better yet become proactive, then you will be on the path to success.
Blaming is a very limiting game. Not only does it set you up to repeatedly fail, but it does absolutely nothing to encourage your continued growth. However once you can get past blaming and pointing fingers, you can then begin to give some real thought to what you can do and what you can change. Once you begin to take advantage of your inherently human abilities and strengths you are bound to find success, as you define it. Human beings have imagination and independent will. This means that you can analyze a problem, come up with a very creative solution, and begin to implement a plan. You have the power to change yourself and your life. This is the true path to success!
What does becoming proactive mean?
Many people think they have familiarity or a general grasp of what it means to be proactive. Most people believe it simply means to take action on your own initiative. While this is certainly one of the key components of the word, becoming a proactive person is more than just simply taking an action or two. It goes much deeper than that. Being proactive means that you not only take action, but you also take full responsibility for yourself. This means giving up the blame game for good.
In order to ensure your success you must accept your own full and personal responsibility for your own failures and successes. Do not blame others, the conditions you find yourself in, or the past, but rather choose to respond to the current failure or success in a positive way.
Always keep in mind that failure does not have to be the end of the road, unless you want it to be, but more likely the beginning of a whole new path. If you can accept the blame for your mis-steps and mistakes, and learn from them, and then take those lessons to forge a new plan of action then you are bound to find your success.
You are a resourceful and imaginative person!
These qualities are among your inheritance as a human being. If you use the qualities to take responsibility for your own actions and generate new initiatives then you are bound to find the success in your personal and professional lives that you seek
